| Out of touch or corrupt? | 11:45 pm |
|---|
A subject getting a lot of press these days is the deal the White House wants that would allow a United Arab Emirates based company to acquisition 11 terminals in 6 major US ports from a British company.

Since this story broke a lot of people and officials, Democrat and Republican alike have been up in arms over the deal and Bush finds himself wading into the deep end again. One would expect some repercussions to come from this but we might as well give him the nickname 'the comeback kid' because every time it seems public opinion for him is really going to drop, the tide of politics will finally turn against him and the dictator-in-chief will finally be impeached, instead the issue gets glossed over and he goes on to commit yet another injustice or crime.

It seems few are not taking this issue very seriously. The only people outside the White House who seem to think this is a non-issue are those in the business community. They've given this deal their seal of approval. While this is supposed to matter it really doesn't. It's quite obvious that 'Corporate America' doesn't have this country's safety and best interest at heart. ( Read more... )

I think when one looks at the big picture here one can start to see that it's far more than just a question of the Bush Administration simply being out of touch on issues like the scope of devastation and relief needed due to Hurricane Katrina, choosing unqualified cronies like Michael Brown for FEMA and Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court, violating the Constitution by spying on American citizens without a court order, allowing jobs to pour into other countries telling us to simply be more "competitive" while simultaneously undermining education; using up surpluses on ridiculous increases in spending yet cutting taxes largely for the wealthy, or the Vice President accidentally shooting a man and not telling the rest of us anything about it. It's much more than just being out of touch, they are actually thoroughly corrupt on a monumental scale. They will resort to any tactic, sell out to any bidder that will further their evil agendas of acquisitioning more money, power, and control.

Of course most of us knew that already. This was illustrated all too clearly with Bush's hard-on for going to war with Iraq, in spite of flimsy evidence of links to terrorism which has since then been proven illegitimate. This was further evidenced by his more recent comments when asked about how he felt in his justification for the war since much of the evidence he used in his State of The Union speeches and his main premise for going to war was found untrue. He still thought it was the right thing to do in spite of that. Naturally, he thought it the right thing to do because his main motivation for going to war all along had nothing to do with the reasons given. Of course you can't tell ignorant Bush loving Republicans that. They can cite 100 bullshit reasons why Bush is a good guy, the war was necessary, and things in Iraq are secretly going very well in spite of how blatantly it appears otherwise.

What truly disgusts me, other than our apathy toward all of this and more, is that so many in those country are too stupid to even see it. They continue to blindly defend Bush's bungles at every turn. They hate everything Liberal so much that they would let the Republicans get by with murder if it would keep the Dems out of office. They are so determined to have their fascist conservative agendas like banning abortion, curtailing free speech, creating a theology, and legislating morality, that they are willing to sell their souls to the personification of evil in a suit and tie if it will achieve their ends.

What they don't realize is that the agendas they so desperately want are no more wanted by this Administration than their counterparts, these issues are not their focus, they're simply a way to get elected, to keep alive division, and keep us busy with distraction. They may get a few concessions out of this, they might get a ban on flag-burning, abortion, and gay marriage. They might get religion put into public school, but it will come at the cost of the middle class, the environment, the health & safety of future generations, and it could cost the lives of millions as we find an increasingly hostile world invading our shores, invited by those we entrusted to protect us.
