Over the weekend there was some controversy stirred up in this area. While it wasn’t the event some had imagined it would be, the mess is far from over.

I’m speaking in regards to a controversy related to the hateful antics of Fred Phelps, a miserable homophobic bastard who calls himself Reverend and leads the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, as well as the infamous www.Godhatesfags.com. He preaches a crusade of hatred against homosexuals and anyone who could remotely be said to defend, allow, or not actively criticize homosexuality.

While it’s reached a point where you could expect anything from the miserable wretch and his crazy bunch of followers, still he manages to shock and surprise us with his tactics. Recently it’s came to a wider audiences attention that he and they have stooped to a new low.

First for some background. His web site has advocated notions such as, "America is irreversibly doomed. It is a sin to pray for the good of this evil fag nation", "It is a sin NOT to rejoice when God executes His wrath and vengeance upon America", "America became WBC's terrorist. So, God, in retaliation, became America's Terrorist."

His followers thank God for 9/11. They often picket with signs such as these.

Of Hurricane Katrina his view is that it happened as a punishment from God for America’s acceptance of homosexuality. His web site included this vile tirade, "Pray for more dead bodies floating on the fag-semen-rancid waters of New Orleans." Sounds delightfully ‘Christian’ doesn’t it?
They're not only hateful, but they're fucking sick and vulgar.
